| Data Structure Data are arranged by grower and by farm under grower under a "top level" folder titled DDS_DATA. In Microsoft Windows Explorer, the structure looks like this
There are two growers in this structure, "Myself" and "White Farms". Under each grower there is a single farm: Myself \ Home Place and White Farms \ Home Place. Note that these grower \ farm projects could be at opposite ends of a county, state or country. Under each farm are additional folders "Drawing", "Image", "Soil" and "VAF". These are the storage locations for drawing, image, soil sample and prescription data. NOTE: Your use of Windows Explorer may be inevitable. You must be aware that the integrity of this structure is the key to Viewpoint function. If you "play around" in Explorer, DO NOT perform an operation that would change this structure. You can delete selected contents in any folder but do not delete or move the folder from its current location. The DDS_FILES folder contains sub folders that do not relate directly to the data in the grower \ farm folders. However, they do contain information that is critical to Viewpoint operation. Bitmaps can contain bitmap graphics files (BMP) that you use in map making operations. You can delete some or all of the contents of this folder without hurting Viewpoint function. Clr contains thematic color tables that you build and apply to image data. Viewpoint is delivered with a set of thematic color tables for you to use. You can delete some or all of the contents of this folder without hurting Viewpoint function. Dbf contains external databases and layer management files. External databases are used to contain information on crops, fields and products. Layer management files, specifically layername.dds, are used in maintaining and operating the Viewpoint layer list. Generally, you SHOULD NOT, move, copy or delete the contents of this folder. EQUATIONS contains algebra equations that you compose or receive from another Viewpoint user or the GPC. You can delete some or all of the contents of this folder without hurting Viewpoint function. Template
contains the map composition layouts that you develop through Map
Generator. You can delete some or all of the contents of this folder without
hurting Viewpoint function. |
