Important Information on the Installation and Use of AGIS v.7

Internet Requirements and Software Activity

AGIS v.7 can only be used on a system that has Internet access. Periodically, your AGIS must transact business with the AGIS SERVER located at DDS. If the communication with AGIS SERVER does not occur at prescribed intervals your AGIS software will stop operating.

The ‘business’ being transacted with the AGIS SERVER relates to the transfer of an ‘activity file’ that is titled BTRF. This is a record of ‘billable operations’. It is the basis of our billing to you. The transaction between your site and the AGIS SERVER occurs at one-month intervals. The billing cycle to you is net 30. This means that so long as payment is kept current to 61 days, the software functions.

Along with the AGIS installation is a program titled BTRF Report. This program will allow you to print the contents of the BTRF file so that you will have a hard copy record of your activity for your client billing purposes.

If you install AGIS on a laptop computer, you must connect that computer to the AGIS SERVER at some point in the billing cycle to keep your AGIS software functioning.

You may only have one installation of AGIS v.7 per machine. If you have a machine operated by multiple users you must edit your Master Profile to address this scenario. Consult your operating system documentation for instructions on how to accomplish this.

Installation and Software Registration

When you install AGIS v.7 you will be required to register the software.

Call 601 799 1813 and we will move you through a quick and simple registration during which we will assign an access code for each computer on which you are installing AGIS v. 7.

If it is more convenient, you can send an e-mail with the following information:

Your name or the name of your company.
The billing address.
A contact Name and Phone Number.
Your email address.
The machine ID number that appears on your AGIS v.7 installation screen.

We will send you the access code you need by return e-mail.

Conversion of Existing Data in Vision 4.1 or AGIS 6.(n) format.

When you operate AGIS v.7 for the first time, the program will search for a or _DATA folder. ALL DATA in that (‘legacy’) folder will be converted to AGIS v.7 format. This is a one-time, all-or-nothing conversion operation. You will have to let the process run to conclusion and the time involved will be a function of the amount of data in the or _DATA folder.

We realize that some Vision or AGIS 6.(n) users may have large amounts of data in various locations. If you fit this description, assistance in data conversion is available from DDS through special tools that are made available without cost.
